Tolbutamide (Mobenol) is an older sulfonylurea that lowers blood sugar by prompting your pancreas to release more insulin. Here's the thing about hibiscus: most research suggests it can nudge blood sugar down on its own. So when you pair it with tolbutamide, the two may work in the same direction, and your numbers could drop lower than expected.

If that happens, watch for the usual low-blood-sugar signs: shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, dizziness, or feeling confused or unusually hungry. I'll be honest, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on how these things work, not on strong human studies. A cup or two of hibiscus tea is unlikely to cause trouble, but concentrated supplements deserve more caution. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you monitor your sugar at home.
