Aripiprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Higenamine interacts with.

Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the basic idea with aripiprazole (Abilify) and higenamine. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear aripiprazole out of your system. In lab (test tube) studies, higenamine appears to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real people, aripiprazole could build up and you might notice more of its usual side effects, like restlessness, sleepiness, dizziness, tremor, or feeling jittery.

I want to be honest, though: this is only a theoretical concern based on lab work, and it hasn't been shown in actual humans. On top of that, higenamine is a stimulant with its own heart and blood pressure risks, so I'd skip it and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes by 21%. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the basic idea with higenamine and aripiprazole (Abilify). Your body relies partly on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear aripiprazole out. In lab dish testing, higenamine slowed that enzyme down a bit (about 21%). If that happened in a person, aripiprazole could build up slightly and lead to stronger effects, like drowsiness, restlessness or a feeling of inner agitation (akathisia), dizziness, or tremor.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is only a theoretical, test-tube finding and it has not actually been shown in people, so the real-world risk looks low. I'd be more cautious about higenamine's own heart and blood pressure stimulation. Please run this combination by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.
