Fostamatinib falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Concurrent use of ipriflavone and immunosuppressant drugs might have additive effects on inhibiting immune function. Some patients taking ipriflavone experience subclinical lymphocytopenia; avoid concurrent use. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair. Ipriflavone has been shown in some people to quietly lower certain white blood cell counts (a mild drop in lymphocytes), often without any obvious symptoms. Fostamatinib (Tavalisse) can already affect your blood counts on its own, so stacking the two could add up and weaken your body's ability to fight off infection.

This isn't about ipriflavone changing how your liver processes Fostamatinib. It's more about two things nudging your immune defenses in the same direction. Watch for signs like fever, sore throat, or infections that won't clear up. Since Fostamatinib already calls for routine blood monitoring, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding ipriflavone so they can decide what's safe for you.

What Is Fostamatinib Used For?

Brand name: Tavalisse

Tavalisse (fostamatinib) is used to treat thrombocytopenia — dangerously low platelet counts — in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). It is specifically for people whose platelet counts have not improved enough with at least one earlier ITP treatment.

The goal is to raise platelet counts high enough to reduce the risk of serious bleeding. If platelet counts do not respond sufficiently after 12 weeks, the medication is typically stopped.
