Gliclazide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Ipriflavone is thought to competitively inhibit cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9). Theoretically, concurrent use of ipriflavone and drugs metabolized by these enzymes might result in decreased drug elimination, increased serum levels, and potential toxicity. Some drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 include amitriptyline (Elavil), diazepam (Valium), estradiol (Estrace), tacrine (Cognex), verapamil (Calan), warfarin (Coumadin), zileuton (Zyflo), and others.

Here's the gist for gliclazide: your liver clears it largely through an enzyme called CYP2C9. Ipriflavone may gently slow that same enzyme down, so in theory your gliclazide could stick around longer and build up to higher levels than usual.

Since gliclazide lowers blood sugar, more of it in your system could mean a stronger sugar-lowering effect and a higher risk of hypoglycemia. That can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or feeling weak. I want to be honest, though: this concern comes only from lab-style data, not real patient studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. If you do pair them, keep an eye on your blood sugar and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
