Ofatumumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Concurrent use of ipriflavone and immunosuppressant drugs might have additive effects on inhibiting immune function. Some patients taking ipriflavone experience subclinical lymphocytopenia; avoid concurrent use. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the concern with pairing these two. Kesimpta (ofatumumab) already dials down part of your immune system, specifically your B cells, to calm the nerve attacks in MS. Ipriflavone isn't broken down by ofatumumab or the other way around, so this isn't a liver-enzyme issue. Instead, it's about the two adding up. In studies, some people taking ipriflavone developed a quiet drop in their white blood cells (lymphocytes) without any obvious symptoms.

Stack that on top of ofatumumab's immune-lowering effect and you could end up more prone to infections, which is already something to watch on this medication. Because this comes from good-quality research, I'd play it safe and not combine them. Please check with your neurologist or pharmacist before adding ipriflavone.

Brand name: Kesimpta

Kesimpta is used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) in adults. This includes clinically isolated syndrome (a first MS episode), relapsing-remitting MS (the most common form, with flares followed by recovery periods), and active secondary progressive MS (when the disease slowly worsens but still has active flares).

It is designed to reduce relapses and slow disease activity by targeting certain immune cells believed to drive MS damage.
