Ublituximab-xiiy falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Concurrent use of ipriflavone and immunosuppressant drugs might have additive effects on inhibiting immune function. Some patients taking ipriflavone experience subclinical lymphocytopenia; avoid concurrent use. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair. Briumvi (ublituximab) is an infused antibody that lowers your immune system on purpose by clearing out certain B-cells to treat multiple sclerosis. That means your infection defenses are already turned down. Ipriflavone isn't broken down by Briumvi or the other way around, so this isn't a liver enzyme issue. The concern is simpler: it's additive. Ipriflavone has been shown in some people to lower white blood cell counts, and stacking that on top of Briumvi could weaken your immune protection even further.

In real life that could mean a higher risk of infections, things like fevers, sore throats, or lingering colds that don't bounce back. Because of that overlap, I'd skip the ipriflavone while you're on Briumvi, but please check with your doctor or pharmacist first before making any change.

What Is Ublituximab-xiiy injection Used For?

  • Ublituximab-xiiy injection is used to treat adults with various forms of multiple sclerosis (MS; a disease in which the nerves do not function properly and people may experience weakness, numbness, loss of muscle coordination, and problems with vision, speech, and bladder control), including :

    • clinically isolated syndrome (first episode of neurologic symptoms)

    • relapsing-remitting forms (course of disease where symptoms flare up from time to time)

    • secondary progressive forms (course of disease where relapses occur more often).

  • Ublituximab-xiiy injection is in a class of medications called monoclonal antibodies. It works by decreasing the action of immune cells that may cause nerve damage.
