Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the short version: eating jackfruit as a regular fruit alongside your Toviaz (fesoterodine) is very unlikely to cause a problem. The concern on file is only theoretical and comes from animal studies where concentrated jackfruit seed extract seemed to have a calming, sedative effect. There's no solid human evidence behind it.

The idea is that if jackfruit seeds add a little drowsiness, and fesoterodine itself can sometimes cause sleepiness, dizziness, dry mouth, or blurred vision, the two together might leave you feeling a bit more tired or foggy. That said, this is a mild, possible interaction, not a dangerous one. If you're using a concentrated jackfruit seed supplement and notice extra grogginess, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Jackfruit

What is Jackfruit?

Jackfruit
  • General nutrition
  • Blood sugar support
  • Digestive health (fiber)
  • Antioxidant support
  • Wound care (traditional, latex/leaves)

Jackfruit is a large tropical fruit that is nutritious and safe to eat as a food, offering fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants. While its leaves, seeds, and other parts are used in traditional medicine for things like blood sugar and digestion, strong human evidence for these supplement uses is limited. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated jackfruit products for a health condition.
