Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing to know about your aspirin with codeine combo. The aspirin part already thins your blood a bit by making your platelets less sticky, which is part of why even a small cut can bleed a little longer. Lab studies hint that jiaogulan may have its own mild platelet-slowing effect, so stacking the two could add up and raise your chance of bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that's slow to stop.

I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube and animal research, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. It's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding jiaogulan, especially around any surgery or dental work, but please don't stop your prescribed medicine on your own.
