ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin Glargine, Lixisenatide
Insulin Glargine, Lixisenatide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Jiaogulan interacts with.
Clinical research shows that jiaogulan can lower blood glucose levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Soliqua is a once-daily injection that pairs a long-acting insulin (glargine) with lixisenatide to lower your blood sugar. Here's the thing about jiaogulan: it appears to nudge blood sugar down on its own. So stacking it on top of Soliqua means both are pulling in the same direction, and that can add up to hypoglycemia, or blood sugar that drops too low.
Watch for the usual warning signs: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, confusion, or sudden hunger. This isn't a deal-breaker, and the evidence here is still on the lighter side, but it's worth a heads-up. Please don't change your Soliqua dose on your own. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep checking your sugars closely if you do add jiaogulan.
