Here's the gist with this combo product (which contains aspirin, an NSAID-type pain reliever, plus caffeine and Dover's powder). Aspirin and other NSAIDs can make your kidneys hold onto lithium instead of flushing it out. The worry is that lithium levels in your blood could creep up, which may bring on side effects like nausea, hand tremors, increased thirst, frequent urination, or feeling foggy and unsteady.

That said, this is a theoretical concern based on how these drugs work, not strong real-world proof, and it's unclear whether the tiny amount of lithium in a supplement would matter much. Still, lithium has a narrow safety window, so don't guess. Please run this pairing by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

The piece to focus on here is the caffeine in this combination product. Caffeine is a methylxanthine, and the theory is that it can make your kidneys clear lithium a little faster. That would tend to lower your lithium levels, not raise them. For someone relying on lithium for mood support, that could mean less of the effect you are hoping for. The aspirin and Dover's powder (which contains ipecac and opium) are not the players in this particular interaction.

Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not strong real-world proof, and the small amounts in lithium supplements may not matter much. Caffeine effects can also vary day to day depending on how much you drink. If you take lithium regularly, it is worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor.
