Here's the short version: Perampanel (Fycompa) already slows down activity in the brain, and it's well known for causing drowsiness, dizziness, and trouble with balance or thinking. Marsh Labrador tea has been flagged as something that can add to the sedating effects of other calming substances like barbiturates and alcohol. So the worry here is simply that the two together could leave you more sleepy, foggy, or unsteady than usual.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though: this is a theoretical concern based on how the plant behaves, not hard human studies. On top of that, Marsh Labrador tea contains grayanotoxins that can be genuinely toxic, so I wouldn't pair it with your seizure medication without first checking with your pharmacist or neurologist.

What Is Perampanel Used For?

Brand name: Fycompa

Perampanel — available as Fycompa and in generic forms — is used to treat partial-onset seizures (seizures that start in one area of the brain) in patients with epilepsy aged 4 years and older. Both the tablet and oral suspension forms carry this indication.

Perampanel tablets and oral suspension are also approved as add-on (adjunctive) therapy for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (grand mal seizures involving the whole brain at once) in patients with epilepsy aged 12 years and older. Fycompa oral suspension and tablet share both indications.
