Glasdegib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.

In vitro research shows that a methanol extract of Padang cassia inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, taking Padang cassia with CYP3A4 substrates might increase the effects and side effects of these substrates.

Here's the quick version for Glasdegib (Daurismo). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear this leukemia medicine. In a lab dish (not in people), a concentrated extract of Padang cassia slowed that same enzyme down. If that happened in real life, Glasdegib could build up a bit more than expected, which might nudge up its known side effects like nausea, muscle aches and cramps, fatigue, or changes to your heart rhythm (a longer QT interval).

I'll be honest though: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube data, and the cinnamon you sprinkle on food is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated cinnamon supplements are the real question. Since Glasdegib is serious cancer therapy, please run any supplement past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. As a supplement, evidence for health benefits like blood sugar control is limited and mixed, and like other cassia cinnamons it naturally contains coumarin, which can be harmful to the liver in large amounts. What Is Glasdegib Used For?

Brand name: Daurismo

Daurismo (glasdegib) is approved to treat newly-diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) — a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It is used specifically in adults who are 75 years of age or older, or in adults of any age whose other health conditions make intensive induction chemotherapy too risky.

Daurismo is not used alone. It is always given together with low-dose cytarabine, a separate chemotherapy medicine, as part of a 28-day treatment cycle.
