Alogliptin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Passion Flower interacts with.

Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.

Here's the gist of this one: passion flower might gently speed up a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and that's the pathway your body uses to help clear some medicines. In theory, that could nudge a drug like alogliptin out of your system a little faster, which might make it work slightly less well at keeping your blood sugar down.

Now, the honest part: this concern comes only from lab and test-tube research, not from real people, and any enzyme effect looks weak (much milder than known strong inducers). Alogliptin isn't a prodrug, so it doesn't need that enzyme to switch on. For most folks this is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, keep checking your blood sugar as usual, and mention the passion flower to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.
