Periwinkle + Benazepril
Benazepril brand name: Lotensin.
Periwinkle has a moderate interaction with Benazepril. Theoretically, taking periwinkle may increase the effects of antihypertensive drugs due to the hypotensive activity of vincamine, a constituent of periwinkle.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Benazepril
Benazepril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Periwinkle interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: Benazepril (Lotensin) lowers your blood pressure, and periwinkle may nudge it down too. One of periwinkle's compounds, vincamine, can relax and widen blood vessels. Stack that on top of an ACE inhibitor and the two effects could add up, so your pressure might drop more than you bargained for.
If that happens, you could feel dizzy or lightheaded, tired, or wobbly when you stand up quickly. Now, the honest part: this concern is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave rather than solid human studies, so it may never cause you trouble. Still, periwinkle can be potent. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't stop or change your benazepril on your own.

“Benazepril (Lotensin) lowers blood pressure, and most of the 166 supplements on this page pull on that same lever, either dropping your pressure further or pushing it back up and undoing the drug's work. About Periwinkle
What is Periwinkle?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Circulation problems
- Dizziness and ringing in the ears
- Minor wounds and sore throat (traditional)
- High blood pressure (traditional)
Periwinkle (Vinca minor) is a flowering plant whose alkaloids are the source of vinpocetine, a compound marketed for memory and brain circulation. Evidence in humans is limited and mixed, and the plant contains potent compounds that can be toxic in larger amounts, so it should be used only with professional guidance. A closely related plant, Madagascar periwinkle, is the source of important cancer chemotherapy drugs but is not safe to use as a home remedy.
About Benazepril
What Is Benazepril Used For?
Brand name: Lotensin
Benazepril — sold as Lotensin and under its generic names Benazepril and Benazepril Hydrochloride — is approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious events like stroke and heart attack.
It can be used on its own or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when blood pressure needs more control. Because high blood pressure management is part of overall heart health, your doctor may also address cholesterol, blood sugar, and lifestyle factors alongside this medication.

Benazepril Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Benazepril as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Periwinkle — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
