Your medication is a combination of two blood pressure lowerers: atenolol (a beta-blocker) and chlortalidone (a water pill). Both already work to bring your blood pressure down. Periwinkle contains a compound called vincamine that can, on its own, gently relax blood vessels and lower pressure too.

So the concern here is simple stacking. If periwinkle adds even a little extra blood-pressure-lowering on top of your pills, you could feel dizzy, lightheaded, unusually tired, or faint when standing up. I want to be honest, though: this caution is theoretical, based on how vincamine behaves, not on strong human studies. Please don't change anything on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding periwinkle.

Periwinkle (Vinca minor) is a flowering plant whose alkaloids are the source of vinpocetine, a compound marketed for memory and brain circulation. Evidence in humans is limited and mixed, and the plant contains potent compounds that can be toxic in larger amounts, so it should be used only with professional guidance. A closely related plant, Madagascar periwinkle, is the source of important cancer chemotherapy drugs but is not safe to use as a home remedy.
