Periwinkle + Candesartan Cilexetil
Candesartan Cilexetil brand names: Atacand, Amias.
Periwinkle has a moderate interaction with Candesartan Cilexetil. Theoretically, taking periwinkle may increase the effects of antihypertensive drugs due to the hypotensive activity of vincamine, a constituent of periwinkle.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Candesartan Cilexetil
Candesartan Cilexetil falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Periwinkle interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist with candesartan (Atacand) and periwinkle. Candesartan already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Periwinkle contains a compound called vincamine that, at least on paper, can also gently widen blood vessels and nudge your pressure downward. So stacking the two could add up and push your numbers lower than you want.
If that happens, you might notice dizziness, lightheadedness (especially when you stand up), fatigue, or feeling a bit faint. I'll be honest, this concern is theoretical, based on how the compounds work rather than solid human studies, so it may not amount to much. Still, please don't start or stop anything on your own. Check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your blood pressure if you do combine them.

About Periwinkle
What is Periwinkle?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Circulation problems
- Dizziness and ringing in the ears
- Minor wounds and sore throat (traditional)
- High blood pressure (traditional)
Periwinkle (Vinca minor) is a flowering plant whose alkaloids are the source of vinpocetine, a compound marketed for memory and brain circulation. Evidence in humans is limited and mixed, and the plant contains potent compounds that can be toxic in larger amounts, so it should be used only with professional guidance. A closely related plant, Madagascar periwinkle, is the source of important cancer chemotherapy drugs but is not safe to use as a home remedy.
About Candesartan
What Is Candesartan Used For?
Brand names: Atacand, Amias
Candesartan tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and in children ages 1 to under 17. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
Candesartan tablets are also used in adults with heart failure (NYHA class II–IV) with reduced heart pumping function to lower the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization from heart failure. Atacand is specifically studied for use alongside an ACE inhibitor for added benefit in heart failure.
