Theoretically, drugs that inhibit the CYP3A4 enzymes might increase levels of lovastatin from red yeast rice.
Red yeast rice contains varying levels of the statin drug lovastatin, which is metabolized by CYP3A4. Combining red yeast rice with CYP3A4 inhibitors might increase serum levels of lovastatin from red yeast rice.

Here's the connection worth knowing. The cholesterol-lowering part of red yeast rice is really lovastatin (a statin), and your liver clears that statin using an enzyme called CYP3A4. Fluvoxamine slows that same enzyme down. So in theory, taking them together could let the statin build up higher than usual in your blood.

When statin levels climb, the main thing we watch for is muscle trouble: aches, soreness, weakness, or (rarely) more serious muscle breakdown. Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not strong proof, and red yeast rice products vary a lot in how much statin they actually contain. Please don't stop either one on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can weigh it for you.

Both fluvoxamine maleate tablets and Fluvoxamine Maleate extended-release capsules are approved to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) — a condition marked by unwanted, recurring thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors (compulsions) that cause significant distress or interfere with daily life.

Fluvoxamine maleate tablets are approved for adults and for children and adolescents ages 8 to 17. Fluvoxamine Maleate extended-release capsules are approved for adults with OCD; their use in pediatric patients naive to fluvoxamine requires special prescriber consideration regarding the lowest available dose.
