Here's the gist with fedratinib (Inrebic) and rooibos. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2C19 to help clear fedratinib. Lab studies (test tube only) suggest a concentrated rooibos extract can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in people, fedratinib could build up a bit higher than expected, which might mean stronger side effects like nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, anemia, or changes in your blood counts.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is theoretical, based only on lab work, not on real patients. A regular cup or two of rooibos tea is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated rooibos supplements are the bigger question mark. Since fedratinib is a serious cancer medicine, please run any rooibos extract past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down fedratinib (Inrebic) and clear it out. In test-tube studies, a concentrated rooibos extract slowed that enzyme down. What Is Fedratinib Used For?

Brand name: Inrebic

Inrebic (fedratinib) is approved to treat adult patients with intermediate-2 or high-risk myelofibrosis (MF) — a type of bone marrow cancer that disrupts normal blood cell production. This includes primary myelofibrosis as well as secondary myelofibrosis that developed after polycythemia vera or essential thrombocythemia.

It is used both in patients who have not been treated before and in those who have previously been treated with ruxolitinib, another myelofibrosis medication.
