Moexipril falls under ACE INHIBITORS (ACEIs) — the group Rooibos interacts with.

Theoretically, taking rooibos with ACEIs may increase the therapeutic and adverse effects of ACEIs.
Clinical research in healthy adults shows that taking a single dose of rooibos tea, 400 mL orally, inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme activity.

Here's the thing with rooibos tea and your Univasc (moexipril): rooibos itself can gently block the same ACE enzyme that moexipril works on. Since they're both nudging blood pressure in the same direction, drinking rooibos could add a little to moexipril's effect. In plain terms, your blood pressure could dip a bit lower than expected, which might leave you feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or tired, especially when you stand up quickly.

I want to keep this in perspective, though. This is a theoretical concern based on how the body works and one small study, not strong proof that it causes problems. A normal cup or two of rooibos as a beverage is unlikely to be a big deal. If you drink it daily or use concentrated extracts, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

What Is Moexipril Used For?

Brand name: Univasc

Moexipril Hydrochloride tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). They can be used on their own or combined with thiazide diuretics (water pills) when blood pressure is not controlled by moexipril alone.

It's worth knowing that ACE inhibitors, including moexipril, tend to lower blood pressure less effectively in Black patients than in non-Black patients, and Black patients also have a higher risk of a serious swelling reaction called angioedema with ACE inhibitors.
