Here's the gist for Clomipramine: your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear this medication out of your body. Lab studies suggest Terminalia arjuna may slow that enzyme down. If it does, clomipramine could build up a bit higher than usual, which can mean more of its typical side effects, things like drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, or a faster heartbeat.

Here's the short version: lab studies suggest Terminalia arjuna may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9, which helps clear certain medications. Clomipramine is partly handled by this pathway, and it is an active drug (not a prodrug). So in theory, taking Terminalia alongside it could let more clomipramine build up in your system than usual.

Clomipramine — sold as Anafranil and under the generic name Clomipramine Hydrochloride — is approved to treat obsessions and compulsions in people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This includes adults and children/adolescents ages 10 to 17.

To qualify for treatment, the obsessions or compulsions must cause significant distress, take up a lot of time, or noticeably interfere with work, school, or social life.
