Disopyramide Phosphate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Terminalia interacts with.

Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes and reduces CYP3A4 substrate metabolism.

Here's the basic idea: your body relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear disopyramide. Lab studies suggest Terminalia arjuna may slow that enzyme down, which could let more of the drug build up in your system than expected. Since disopyramide is an antiarrhythmic with a fairly narrow safety window, even modest increases can matter.

If levels climbed too high, you might notice more of its known side effects, like dry mouth, blurry vision, trouble urinating, constipation, low blood pressure, or in some cases worsening heart rhythm problems. I want to be honest though: this concern comes only from test-tube research, not human studies, so it's theoretical. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining these, and don't change your medication on your own.

What Is Disopyramide Used For?

Brand names: Norpace CR, Norpace

Disopyramide — available as Disopyramide Phosphate, Norpace, and Norpace CR — is indicated for the treatment of documented ventricular arrhythmias, such as sustained ventricular tachycardia (a fast, dangerous heart rhythm), that a physician judges to be life-threatening.

Because this drug can itself cause arrhythmias, it is not recommended for minor or symptom-free arrhythmias. Treatment is started in a hospital setting so the heart can be closely monitored. Antiarrhythmic drugs like disopyramide have not been shown to improve survival in patients with ventricular arrhythmias.
