Rabeprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.

Theoretically, thunder god vine might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: your body partly clears rabeprazole (Pariet) using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Thunder God Vine contains a compound (triptolide) that, in lab dish studies, slows that same enzyme down. If that held true in people, rabeprazole could clear a bit more slowly and build up slightly, which in theory might mean a touch more of its usual effects, like headache, nausea, or stomach upset.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This comes only from test-tube research and has never actually been reported in real patients. Rabeprazole is also not a prodrug, so the direction makes sense, but the real-world risk is likely small. Since Thunder God Vine itself can be toxic if dosed wrong, please use it only with your doctor's guidance and let your pharmacist know you take both.

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
