Oral Drugs
Why this applies to Oxymorphone
Oxymorphone falls under Oral Drugs — the group Thyroid Extract interacts with.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here the concern runs in one direction: when you swallow an oral medicine like oxymorphone at the same time as thyroid extract, it can act like any other pill or food sitting in your stomach and slightly slow down how well the thyroid hormone is absorbed. The worry is really about the thyroid extract losing some of its punch, not about oxymorphone changing.
This is rated minor, and oxymorphone itself doesn't seem to alter thyroid hormone in any dramatic way. Still, thyroid hormone works best taken on an empty stomach, well before or after other medicines. A simple fix is spacing them apart. Ask your pharmacist or doctor about the best timing, and keep watching for normal opioid effects like drowsiness or constipation.

About Thyroid Extract
What is Thyroid Extract?
- Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
- Fatigue and low energy
- Weight management
- Sluggish metabolism
- General thyroid support
Thyroid extract supplements are made from dried animal thyroid gland and may contain real thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), but the amounts in over-the-counter products are not standardized and can be unpredictable. Self-treating a thyroid problem with these supplements can be risky, so always work with a doctor or pharmacist and use prescription thyroid medicine when treatment is needed.
