Theoretically, taking tree turmeric along with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can have hypotensive effects. Also, a meta-analysis of clinical research suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine (Norvasc) can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with taking amlodipine alone.

Amlodipine (Istin) is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes your blood vessels to bring your blood pressure down. Tree turmeric, through its main compound berberine, appears to nudge blood pressure in the same direction. So the concern here is simple: stacking the two could lower your numbers more than amlodipine alone, which is an additive effect rather than a problem with how the drug is broken down.

If your pressure dips too low, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, get a headache, feel tired, or notice your ankles swelling. The evidence is mixed, with some animal and human data, so it is not alarming, but it is worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding berberine, especially if your blood pressure already runs low.

Here's the gist: your body clears amlodipine using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The berberine in tree turmeric can slow that enzyme down a bit. When clearance slows, more amlodipine can hang around in your system, which can make its blood-pressure-lowering effect a little stronger than expected.

For you, that might show up as dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing, headache, a faster heartbeat, or swelling in the ankles. It's usually not dramatic, and this is partly based on lab work plus early human data, so I wouldn't panic. Still, concentrated berberine supplements are stronger than a sprinkle of any spice. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't stop or change your amlodipine on your own.
