Dapagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, tree turmeric, taken alone or in combination with milk thistle, might increase the risk of hypoglycemia in patients taking antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that taking a product containing tree turmeric and milk thistle extracts can lower blood glucose levels, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes, including those on antidiabetic agents. Additionally, clinical research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can lower blood glucose levels.

Here's the simple version: tree turmeric (the berberine in it) tends to lower blood sugar on its own. Your dapagliflozin (Farxiga) is already doing the same job by helping your kidneys flush extra sugar out in your urine. Stack the two together and the combined push could drop your blood sugar lower than intended.

If that happens, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, irritable, or get a fast heartbeat. The good news is that this is a manageable interaction, not a dangerous chemical reaction, and Farxiga by itself rarely causes lows. Still, if you want to try tree turmeric, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on your numbers and adjust if needed. Don't stop or change anything on your own.

What Is Dapagliflozin Used For?

Brand name: Farxiga

Dapagliflozin is used for several serious conditions. It helps improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes (alongside diet and exercise). It also reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.

Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is additionally approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent visits due to heart failure in adults with heart failure — and to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease, including reducing the risk of kidney failure and cardiovascular death, in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of getting worse.
