Felodipine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, taking tree turmeric along with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can have hypotensive effects. Also, a meta-analysis of clinical research suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine (Norvasc) can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with taking amlodipine alone.

Here's the simple version: Felodipine already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Tree turmeric (and its active part, berberine) may nudge your blood pressure down too. Put them together and the effects can stack, so your pressure could drop a bit more than you'd expect.

If that happens, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, get a headache, feel flushed, or notice your heart racing, especially when you stand up quickly. I'll be honest with you though: this concern mostly comes from animal studies and a few human results with related drugs, so it's more of a 'keep an eye on it' than a red alert. If you'd like to try tree turmeric, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and consider monitoring your blood pressure at home.

In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, moderately inhibits CYP3A4.

Here's the gist with this pairing. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down felodipine. Berberine, the active compound in tree turmeric, appears to slow that enzyme down. When the cleanup crew works slower, more felodipine can hang around in your blood than usual.

Since felodipine is already a fairly sensitive blood pressure pill, that extra buildup could push its effects too far. You might notice things like dizziness, lightheadedness when standing, flushing, headache, a racing heartbeat, or swelling in your ankles. None of this means you must avoid the combination, but please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding tree turmeric so they can watch your blood pressure and adjust if needed.
