Isradipine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, taking tree turmeric along with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can have hypotensive effects. Also, a meta-analysis of clinical research suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine (Norvasc) can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with taking amlodipine alone.

Here's the simple version: isradipine (Dynacirc CR) already works to lower your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Tree turmeric, thanks to its berberine content, may nudge blood pressure down too. Put them together and the two effects can stack, which could push your numbers lower than intended.

If that happens, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, get a headache, feel flushed, or notice your heart racing, especially when you stand up quickly. I'll be honest with you, though: this is mostly based on animal studies and some research on a related drug, not strong human data on isradipine itself. Food amounts of turmeric in cooking aren't the concern; concentrated berberine supplements are. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs that are substrates of CYP3A4.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, moderately inhibits CYP3A4.

Here's the gist of it. Your body relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear isradipine. The berberine in tree turmeric can partly block that enzyme, so the medication may clear out more slowly and build up a bit in your system.

Since isradipine already works by relaxing your blood vessels, having extra hanging around could push its effect too far. That might mean lower-than-expected blood pressure, dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing, headache, or a faster heartbeat. The concern here is mostly theoretical and based on lab and early human data, so it isn't a sure thing. Still, before you pair concentrated berberine supplements with isradipine, check in with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your blood pressure.
