Theoretically, taking tree turmeric along with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can have hypotensive effects. Also, a meta-analysis of clinical research suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine (Norvasc) can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with taking amlodipine alone.

Here's the gist: inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso) works by relaxing and widening blood vessels to ease pressure in your lungs. Tree turmeric, thanks to its berberine content, may also have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect. When you stack two things that both nudge blood pressure downward, they can add up, so in theory you might feel more lightheaded, dizzy, flushed, or get a headache, especially when standing up quickly.

I want to be honest about how solid this is. The concern here comes mainly from lab and animal studies plus a little human data with a different blood pressure drug, so it's more theoretical than proven. Still, since your PAH treatment matters a lot, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding tree turmeric rather than starting it on your own.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso): besides opening up the blood vessels in your lungs, it also makes your platelets a bit less sticky, so it has a mild blood-thinning side. Tree turmeric, thanks to its berberine, may do something similar. Lab and animal studies hint that berberine can slow platelets from clumping, so stacking the two could add up and nudge your bleeding risk a little higher.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical and based only on test-tube and animal work, not real patient reports, so please don't panic. Just keep an eye out for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that's slow to stop, and run the supplement by your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.

What Is Treprostinil Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Tyvaso

Treprostinil oral inhalation is used to treat two serious lung conditions that raise pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs. It helps improve how much physical activity you can do.

Tyvaso inhalation solution and Tyvaso DPI are both indicated to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) and pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3). Clinical studies establishing effectiveness in PAH primarily included patients with moderate symptoms (NYHA Class III) whose PAH was idiopathic, heritable, or related to connective tissue disease. Studies in PH-ILD primarily included patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema, or connective tissue disease-related lung disease.
