Here's the gist for Viibryd (vilazodone). Tree turmeric's main ingredient, berberine, may gently block a liver enzyme called CYP2D6, which helps clear some medications. Vilazodone is an active drug (not a prodrug), so slowing its breakdown could let a bit more of it linger in your system. In plain terms, you might notice stronger or more frequent side effects like nausea, diarrhea, headache, trouble sleeping, or dizziness.

That said, this is mostly theoretical and based on lab work plus limited human data, so it isn't a sure thing. Everyday cooking amounts aren't the concern; concentrated berberine supplements are. Before adding tree turmeric, check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can weigh it for you.

Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear vilazodone (Viibryd). The berberine in tree turmeric can partly slow that enzyme down. So if you take both, vilazodone may not break down as quickly and its levels could creep up in your system. Vilazodone is an active drug, not a prodrug, so more of it means a stronger effect.

In practice, that could mean more of vilazodone's usual side effects, things like nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, or trouble sleeping. This is rated moderate and likely, though much of it is still based on early data. Before pairing them, check with your pharmacist or doctor rather than changing anything on your own.
