Zafirlukast falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.

Here's the gist for Accolate (zafirlukast): your liver clears it using an enzyme called CYP2C9. Berberine, the active part of tree turmeric, appears to slow that enzyme down a bit. When the enzyme works slower, zafirlukast can hang around longer and build up, so its effects (and side effects) may run a little stronger than usual.

In real life that could mean more headache, stomach upset, or nausea. Rarely, zafirlukast has been linked to liver problems, so anything that raises its levels is worth watching. Keep in mind this is mostly theoretical with only early, lower-quality evidence, so it's not a sure thing. Still, before pairing the two, check in with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on you.
