Zafirlukast falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
Research on the effect of bacopa extracts on CYP2C9 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP2C9, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the thinking on combining bacopa with your Zafirlukast (Accolate). Your body clears this asthma medicine partly through a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In a test tube, bacopa may slow that enzyme down a bit. If it did that in real life, zafirlukast could build up slightly and you might notice more of its usual side effects, like headache, stomach upset, or nausea.

I want to be honest with you: this is only based on lab studies, and even those disagree with each other. There's no good evidence it causes real problems in people. Zafirlukast isn't a prodrug, so the concern would be a little extra drug, not less. Still, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you start feeling off after adding bacopa.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking.
