Diphenhydramine falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, concurrent use might decrease the effectiveness of both agents.
Bacopa seems to inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels, which could counteract the effects of anticholinergic drugs. Similarly, anticholinergic drugs might counteract the cholinergic effects of bacopa.

Here's the gist of how bacopa and diphenhydramine (Benadryl) may bump heads. Diphenhydramine works partly by blocking acetylcholine, a brain and body signal that bacopa, on the other hand, seems to raise (in lab studies it appears to slow the enzyme that breaks acetylcholine down). Because they pull in opposite directions, taking them together could, in theory, blunt both. You might notice your Benadryl doesn't relieve allergy symptoms or help you sleep quite as well, and bacopa's intended memory benefits could be dampened too.

I want to be straight with you: this is a theoretical concern based on how these two work, not on solid human studies, so it may not amount to much in real life. Still, if you use both regularly, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Diphenhydramine temporarily relieves symptoms of hay fever, other upper respiratory allergies, and the common cold — including runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

After Bite Xtra gel is formulated for topical use and is approved to temporarily relieve pain and itching from minor burns, minor cuts and scrapes, insect bites, minor skin irritations, and rashes from poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac.
