Clindamycin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the gist for these two together. Your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear clindamycin, and bacopa might slow that enzyme down a little. If that happened, clindamycin could build up slightly higher than usual, which in theory could mean more of its typical side effects, things like nausea, stomach cramps, diarrhea, or a bad taste in your mouth.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is. The concern comes only from lab and test-tube studies, and even those disagree with each other. Clindamycin is not a prodrug, so it doesn't flip the other way. For most people this is unlikely to cause real trouble, but if you take bacopa regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Clindamycin is prescribed for serious infections caused by certain bacteria — including anaerobic bacteria (bacteria that thrive without oxygen), streptococci, staphylococci, and pneumococci. It's often chosen when penicillin-type antibiotics can't be used, such as in people with a penicillin allergy.

It can treat infections of the lungs, skin and soft tissue, bloodstream, abdomen, and female reproductive organs. Because it carries real risks, doctors reserve it for infections where safer antibiotics aren't appropriate.
