Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
THYROID HORMONE
Why this applies to Dextrothyroxine
Dextrothyroxine falls under THYROID HORMONE — the group Bacopa interacts with.
Animal research suggests that bacopa increases thyroxine (T4) levels in mice by about 40%.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the situation with bacopa and dextrothyroxine (Choloxin). Dextrothyroxine is a thyroid hormone medication, and the concern on file is that bacopa might add to its effect. In mouse studies, bacopa bumped up T4 (thyroxine) levels by roughly 40%. The thinking is that taking the two together could push your thyroid activity a little higher than intended.
If that happened, you might notice things like a faster or pounding heartbeat, feeling jittery or anxious, trouble sleeping, or unexpected weight changes. That said, I want to be honest: this is a theoretical interaction based on animal data, not proven in people, and it's rated minor. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since thyroid dosing is sensitive, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding regular bacopa.

This page covers Bacopa only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Dextrothyroxine page lists 38 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Tiratricol (major), Acetyl-l-carnitine (moderate), Alpha-lipoic Acid (moderate) and Ascophyllum Nodosum (moderate).
By severity: 2 major · 26 moderate · 10 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Dextrothyroxine page
“Activated charcoal is the risk I would flag first with dextrothyroxine (Choloxin), a thyroid hormone once used to lower cholesterol. Charcoal binds drugs in the gut and can strip away much of a dose, and it is one of only two major-rated interactions among the 38 supplements on file here.”

About Bacopa
What is Bacopa?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Anxiety and stress
- ADHD symptoms
- Age-related memory decline
- General brain health
Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory when taken regularly for several weeks, but the evidence is limited and quality varies. It is generally well tolerated but can cause stomach upset, and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.
