Mefenamic Acid falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.

Theoretically, vinpocetine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that vinpocetine weakly inhibits CYP2C9. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for mefenamic acid (Ponstel): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to help clear it out. Vinpocetine appears, at least in a test tube, to weakly slow that same enzyme. In theory, that could let mefenamic acid build up a bit more than usual, which might mean a higher chance of typical NSAID side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, nausea, or in heavier cases stomach irritation or bleeding.

I want to be honest with you, though: this is only seen in lab studies and has never actually been reported in people, and the effect looks mild. So I wouldn't panic. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before pairing them, especially if you have a sensitive stomach.

Mefenamic acid capsules are approved to manage mild to moderate pain in adults and adolescents 14 years of age and older, but only for short-term use — no longer than 7 days.
