Vinpocetine + Trimipramine

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Trimipramine
Trimipramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.
In vitro research shows that vinpocetine weakly inhibits CYP2C9. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: your body uses several liver enzymes to break down trimipramine, and one of them is CYP2C9. In lab dish studies, vinpocetine appears to weakly slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, trimipramine could clear a little slower and build up, which might bump up its usual effects, things like drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, dizziness when standing, or a faster heartbeat.
The honest part is that this is only seen in test-tube research and hasn't actually been shown in people, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, trimipramine isn't a drug to take chances with. Before adding vinpocetine, check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can weigh it for you.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Trimipramine page
“If you take trimipramine (Surmontil), a tricyclic antidepressant, read this list carefully. Nine of the 139 supplements and herbs on file are rated major, and most touch the heart: several, grapefruit among them, can stretch the QT interval, the heart's electrical reset time, and raise the risk of a dangerous rhythm.”

What is Vinpocetine?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Brain blood flow
- Stroke recovery
- Age-related memory decline
- Tinnitus and hearing concerns
Vinpocetine is a lab-made compound based on a chemical from the periwinkle plant, and it is marketed mainly for memory and brain health. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before trying it.
About Trimipramine
What Is Trimipramine Used For?
Brand names: Surmontil, Trimip, Rhotrimine, Tripramine, Trimp
Trimipramine capsules are indicated for the relief of symptoms of depression. Endogenous depression — depression that arises from within, rather than from an obvious outside cause — is more likely to respond to treatment than other types.
In clinical studies, trimipramine worked as well as imipramine in hospitalized patients with depression, and was comparable to amitriptyline in less severely depressed outpatients.

Natural Medicines records Trimipramine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Vinpocetine — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
