Vinpocetine + Tamoxifen Citrate
Tamoxifen Citrate brand names: Nolvadex, Soltamox.
Vinpocetine has a moderate interaction with Tamoxifen Citrate. Theoretically, vinpocetine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Tamoxifen Citrate
Tamoxifen Citrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.
In vitro research shows that vinpocetine weakly inhibits CYP2C9. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the situation with vinpocetine and tamoxifen. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to help process tamoxifen, and lab studies suggest vinpocetine may weakly block that enzyme. In theory, slowing this pathway could let a bit more tamoxifen build up in your system, which might mean more of its usual side effects like hot flashes, nausea, or leg cramps.
The important part: this has only been seen in test-tube research, never in actual people, and the blocking effect was weak. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since tamoxifen is a serious cancer medicine, please run vinpocetine past your oncologist or pharmacist before adding it, so they can weigh it in with your full treatment plan.

What is Vinpocetine?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Brain blood flow
- Stroke recovery
- Age-related memory decline
- Tinnitus and hearing concerns
Vinpocetine is a lab-made compound based on a chemical from the periwinkle plant, and it is marketed mainly for memory and brain health. About Tamoxifen
What Is Tamoxifen Used For?
Brand names: Nolvadex, Soltamox
Tamoxifen is used to treat metastatic breast cancer (breast cancer that has spread) in both women and men, and as adjuvant (after-surgery) therapy for early-stage breast cancer in women. It also reduces the occurrence of cancer in the opposite breast when used as adjuvant therapy.
In women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) — a very early, non-invasive form of breast cancer — tamoxifen is used after breast surgery and radiation to reduce the risk of developing invasive breast cancer. It is also approved to reduce the incidence of breast cancer in women who are at high risk but have not yet been diagnosed. Soltamox (oral solution) is specifically indicated for all of these uses in adult patients.
