Anagrelide falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.

Vinpocetine might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Clinical research shows that vinpocetine decreases red blood cell aggregation, as well as plasma and whole blood viscosity. This effect has been seen with intravenous vinpocetine 1 mg/kg and oral vinpocetine 30 mg daily. Vinpocetine also seems to have antiplatelet effects.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. Anagrelide already does two jobs: it lowers your platelet count, and on top of that it can make the platelets you do have a bit less sticky. Vinpocetine seems to do something similar, nudging platelets to clump less and thinning the blood slightly. Stack those effects together and you may tip toward easier bleeding or bruising.

What that can look like day to day: nosebleeds that won't quit, bleeding gums, blood in your urine or stool, or bruises popping up from nothing. The evidence here is modest (from lower-quality studies), so I'm not trying to scare you. But since Anagrelide directly affects platelets, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding vinpocetine rather than starting it on your own.

What Is Anagrelide Used For?

Brand name: Agrylin

Anagrelide — sold as Agrylin and as generic anagrelide capsules — is used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms. That means it's prescribed when a bone marrow disorder causes the body to produce too many platelets, raising the risk of dangerous blood clots.

By bringing platelet counts down to a safer range, anagrelide also helps reduce related symptoms, including bleeding and clotting events (thrombo-hemorrhagic events).
