Naproxen Sodium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.

Theoretically, vinpocetine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that vinpocetine weakly inhibits CYP2C9. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for naproxen (the active ingredient in products like Midol Extended Relief). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to help clear naproxen out of your system. In a test tube, vinpocetine appears to weakly slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that could let naproxen build up a little, which might nudge up the usual side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, or a higher chance of stomach irritation.

The honest part: this has only been seen in lab studies, not in actual people, so it's a pretty weak and uncertain concern. Naproxen is fully active on its own (it's not a prodrug), so the direction would be slightly stronger effects, not weaker. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but check in with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing these two.

Vinpocetine might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Clinical research shows that vinpocetine decreases red blood cell aggregation, as well as plasma and whole blood viscosity. This effect has been seen with intravenous vinpocetine 1 mg/kg and oral vinpocetine 30 mg daily. Vinpocetine also seems to have antiplatelet effects.

Here's the thing to know if you take naproxen (like Midol Extended Relief) alongside vinpocetine: both can make your blood a little slower to clot. Naproxen is an NSAID, and on its own it can irritate the stomach lining and nudge up your bleeding risk. Vinpocetine appears to have its own mild antiplatelet action and may thin the blood slightly, so stacking the two could add up.

What might that look like? Easier bruising, nosebleeds, a cut that takes longer to stop, or, more seriously, stomach upset or signs of GI bleeding like black or tarry stools. The evidence here is modest, not alarming, but it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially with regular use.
