Drug & supplement interaction

Vinpocetine + Tirbanibulin

Tirbanibulin brand name: Klisyri.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Vinpocetine and Tirbanibulin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Vinpocetine and Tirbanibulin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Tirbanibulin and Vinpocetine in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Tirbanibulin

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Tirbanibulin is filed under a single classification — topical drugs. Vinpocetine has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate), cytochrome p450 2c9 (cyp2c9) substrates (moderate) and warfarin (coumadin) (minor) — and none of Tirbanibulin’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Vinpocetine and Tirbanibulin May Share a Side Effect

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do.

Vinpocetine in Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Pregnancy Possibly Unsafe

When used orally. In June 2019, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a statement of warning that those who are pregnant or who could become pregnant should avoid vinpocetine. In rats, vinpocetine has been associated with an increased risk of miscarriage at a dose of 60 mg/kg daily and with reduced fetal weight and increased incidence of birth defects at a dose of 5-20 mg/kg. Based on pharmacokinetic analyses, a daily vinpocetine dose of 10 mg in humans is comparable to a daily dose of 5 mg/kg in rats.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Tirbanibulin page

“Topical DMSO is the one to know about if you use tirbanibulin (Klisyri), the ointment prescribed for actinic keratosis on the skin. DMSO can drive other topical drugs deeper through the skin, which could amplify both the medication's effect and its irritation right where it's applied.”

About Vinpocetine

What is Vinpocetine?

Vinpocetine
  • Memory and cognitive support
  • Brain blood flow
  • Stroke recovery
  • Age-related memory decline
  • Tinnitus and hearing concerns

Vinpocetine is a lab-made compound based on a chemical from the periwinkle plant, and it is marketed mainly for memory and brain health. The evidence behind these uses is limited and not strong, and U.S. regulators have warned that it should be avoided by people who are pregnant or could become pregnant. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before trying it.

About Tirbanibulin Topical

What Is Tirbanibulin Topical Used For?

Brand name: Klisyri

Klisyri (tirbanibulin 1% ointment) is applied directly to the skin to treat actinic keratosis — rough, scaly patches caused by years of sun damage that can sometimes turn into skin cancer if left untreated. It is approved for use on the face or balding scalp in adults.

Klisyri is applied to the entire affected treatment area (up to a 100 cm² patch) rather than to individual spots, an approach called field treatment.

How was the Vinpocetine and Tirbanibulin combination checked?
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes. Tirbanibulin is filed under 1 classification, and Vinpocetine has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — none of Tirbanibulin's classifications are among them. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded in our dataset, so this describes how the check was run rather than guaranteeing safety.
Does Vinpocetine interact with any other medications?
Yes. Vinpocetine has 208 documented drug interactions in our database — Tirbanibulin is simply not one of them. If you take anything else, it is worth checking each one; they are all listed on this page.
