These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Wild Lettuce interacts with whole categories of medication. Atropine, morphine sulfate falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Wild Lettuce in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CNS DEPRESSANTS
1 of 2Why this applies to Atropine, morphine sulfate
Atropine, morphine sulfate falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Wild Lettuce interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: morphine is a strong opioid pain reliever, and one of its main effects is making you drowsy and slowing your breathing. Wild lettuce has its own calming, sleepy-type effects (at least in lab and animal studies). So the worry isn't that one changes how the other is broken down. It's that two relaxing things stacked together can add up, leaving you more sedated than you expected.
If you took both, you might feel extra groggy, dizzy, or unusually sleepy, and in a worst case that deeper drowsiness can slow breathing. To be clear, this concern is theoretical, based on how each works rather than strong human studies. Still, with an opioid in the mix, please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
2 of 2Atropine, morphine sulfate also falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for this combo. Atropine is a strong anticholinergic medicine, meaning it naturally dries you up and can cause dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, trouble urinating, fast heartbeat, and dizziness. Morphine adds its own sedation and slows the gut too. Wild lettuce is mostly used for its calming, mild pain-easing feel, but there are reports that large amounts may carry weak anticholinergic-type effects of its own.
So the worry isn't a chemical clash, it's simply piling similar effects on top of each other. Stacking wild lettuce on atropine and morphine could nudge that dryness, constipation, drowsiness, and lightheadedness further. The evidence here is thin and food-level amounts likely don't matter much, but please run this past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
