Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Antiflame is a single-ingredient supplement containing mangosteen extract (sold as Mangoselect). The capsule itself is made of plant-based HPMC with magnesium stearate as a flow agent—no fillers beyond that.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

We hold no graded evidence for this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: supporting the healing process.
  • We looked for evidence on: wound healing, tissue repair, recovery, inflammation reduction.
  • Our graded evidence for these ingredients doesn't cover that particular purpose.

The evidence we hold shows mangosteen is possibly effective for periodontitis (gum disease). For other uses—hair loss, Alzheimer's disease, and eczema—the evidence isn't established enough for us to rate it either way.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Mangosteen extract is generally well tolerated as a food. At doses up to 560 mg daily, some people in trials reported tiredness, headache, dizziness, upset stomach, constipation, nausea, or respiratory symptoms like cough and congestion—though it's unclear whether mangosteen caused them.

The safety data advises against supplement amounts during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There isn't enough information to know if it's safe in those settings, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Mangosteen.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 125 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you take Antiflame, double-check if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel—mangosteen may raise your bleeding risk. Also flag it if you take donepezil (Aricept) for memory problems.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro and animal research shows that gamma-mangostin, a constituent of mangosteen, is a potent and competitive antagonist of the serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor. Antagonism of the 5-HT2A receptor is believed to reduce platelet aggregation.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Donepezil (Aricept)

Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with donepezil might increase the effects of donepezil.
Animal research shows that concomitant use of an aqueous extract of mangosteen pericarp with donepezil increases brain concentrations of donepezil at 4 hours by 64% without associated effects on systemic exposure.

Antiflame by SimplyBest: Common Questions

Does Antiflame by SimplyBest interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Antiflame has a known interaction with 125 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Antiflame contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will this help my gum disease?
Mangosteen is possibly effective for periodontitis, so the evidence suggests it might help—but it's not definitive. If gum disease is your main concern, talk to your dentist about whether to add this alongside their recommendations.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
The safety data advises against it during pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough information either way. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about what's right for your situation.
What side effects might I see?
In trials, people reported tiredness, headache, dizziness, upset stomach (nausea, constipation, bloating), and respiratory symptoms like cough—though it's unclear if mangosteen caused them. Most reports were mild.
What is mangosteen?
Mangosteen is a tropical fruit. This product contains a concentrated extract of it—not just the fruit itself—so the long-term safety of taking it as a supplement this way isn't well studied yet.
Can it help with hair loss or Alzheimer's disease?
The evidence we hold isn't established enough for either of those uses. There's not enough reliable data to rate whether it works.
