What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: chromium, a mineral that plays a role in how your body handles blood sugar and processes carbohydrates. You're getting 200 micrograms per tablet.
The tablet also contains inactive ingredients (fillers and binders): dicalcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Chromium is rated likely effective for chromium deficiency. For type 2 diabetes, the evidence is rated possibly effective—some research suggests it may help lower blood glucose, especially if your diabetes is poorly controlled.
For prediabetes (impaired glucose tolerance), schizophrenia, and high blood pressure, the evidence is rated possibly ineffective, so this supplement isn't established as helpful for those uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal upset, headaches, insomnia, irritability, and mood changes.
Skin reactions like rashes and itching have also been reported. Rare serious effects—kidney or liver damage, muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), and low blood platelet counts—have been documented, usually at much higher doses or with long-term use.
There isn't enough safety data on higher doses, so stick to this 200 mcg dose unless your doctor recommends otherwise. The safety notes advise caution with long-term or high-dose use.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding safety data aren't on file for this supplement—if you're pregnant or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take insulin or diabetes medications (blood sugar drugs), or levothyroxine (thyroid hormone), let your pharmacist know before you start—chromium may lower blood sugar or reduce thyroid hormone absorption. NSAIDs and aspirin may also interact, though these are minor concerns.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have chromium deficiency or poorly controlled type 2 diabetes, this supplement is worth discussing with your doctor. If you take insulin, other diabetes medications, or levothyroxine, check with us first—these interactions matter.
For other uses, the evidence doesn't support it. Start low and talk to your pharmacist if you have kidney or liver concerns.

Chromium 200 mcg by Simply Supplements Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Chromium 200 mcg from Simply Supplements does interact with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with insulin and antidiabetes drugs (blood sugar medications)—chromium may increase how well insulin works and lower blood glucose levels, which could tip you toward low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). This risk is moderate.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chromium may also bind to levothyroxine (thyroid hormone) in your gut and reduce how much your body absorbs—research shows a 17% drop in levothyroxine levels in healthy volunteers taking a higher chromium dose with thyroid medication. NSAIDs and aspirin might increase how much chromium your body takes in, which could raise chromium levels in your blood, though this is a minor concern.
Altogether, these interactions span 177 individual medications. If you take any of these drug types—especially insulin, other diabetes medications, or levothyroxine—run your exact medications through the checker below before starting this supplement.

For each ingredient in Chromium 200 mcg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
