ClearMind Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking ClearMind against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of ClearMind by Ameriden International
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
ClearMind contains three active ingredients. Phosphatidylserine is a compound found naturally in cell membranes, studied for memory and thinking as we age.
RosaFactor is Rhodiola, a plant extract traditionally used as an adaptogen — a substance thought to help the body manage stress. Ribes nigrum is black currant seed oil, which contains fatty acids and is used in supplements for various health goals.
The product also contains inactive ingredients — cellulose and brown rice powder — that serve as fillers and flow agents in the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for ClearMind's ingredients is mixed and incomplete. Phosphatidylserine is rated possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease, but the evidence for cognitive function, ADHD, and dementia is insufficient to rate.
Rhodiola has insufficient evidence for the conditions listed in our data — altitude sickness, anxiety, heart rhythm, athletic performance, and bladder cancer — so we can't say whether it works for those uses. Black Currant also shows insufficient evidence for the conditions we have on file, including Alzheimer disease, liver disease, upper respiratory infection, and cough.
In short, the evidence supporting this product's effectiveness is not established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety isn't fully established. The most common side effects are flatulence, stomach upset, headache, insomnia (especially at higher doses around 600 mg), and nausea.
Rhodiola also appears generally well tolerated for short-term use, but long-term safety isn't well studied. Its side effects include dizziness and changes in saliva production (dry mouth or excessive salivation).
Black Currant as a food is safe, but concentrated supplements have less research behind them — in one study of 2,154 people taking black currant seed oil, a small number reported mild diarrhea within the first 2 to 10 days. For pregnancy, the safety data advises against use of both phosphatidylserine and rhodiola — there isn't enough information to know either way.
Black Currant as food is likely fine, but supplements lack safety data. Similarly, breastfeeding safety data is not on file for any of these ingredients.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before starting ClearMind, check with your pharmacist if you take blood pressure medications (Rhodiola may lower blood pressure further), diabetes drugs (risk of low blood sugar), blood thinners or antiplatelet agents (increased bleeding risk), seizure medications including phenothiazines, immunosuppressants, or any medication broken down by your liver's CYP2C9, CYP1A2, or CYP3A4 pathways. The interaction tool below will help you match your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
ClearMind might be worth considering if you're interested in supporting memory and mental clarity and you don't take medications for blood pressure, diabetes, blood clotting, or seizure disorders. If you take any prescription drugs — especially those that affect blood pressure, blood sugar, or how your liver processes medications — you'll want to check with your pharmacist first.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Avoid it until you've talked with your doctor.

ClearMind by Ameriden International Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ClearMind by Ameriden International contains three active ingredients, two of which have documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern involves Rhodiola (RosaFactor), which carries Moderate-severity interactions with several drug classes that affect how your body handles blood pressure, blood sugar, and certain medications your liver processes.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Rhodiola's main risks are with blood pressure drugs (antihypertensive medications) — it may lower blood pressure further — and diabetes medications, where it could increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). It also interacts with drugs that thin your blood or prevent clotting (anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs), and with immunosuppressants used after transplants or for certain autoimmune conditions.
Additionally, rhodiola can slow how your liver breaks down a large group of medications processed through the CYP2C9 pathway, including the blood pressure drug losartan; it may also affect drugs processed through CYP1A2 and CYP3A4, though the clinical relevance is smaller (Minor severity).
Black Currant (Ribes nigrum) carries Moderate interactions with blood thinners and antiplatelet agents — it may increase bleeding risk — and with phenothiazines (older antipsychotic medications), where there is theoretical concern about lowering seizure threshold. Phosphatidylserine has Moderate interactions with anticholinergic drugs (which treat certain muscle spasms and overactive bladder) and cholinergic drugs, though these are mostly theoretical.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,400 individual medications.
If you take any prescription medication, check your exact drugs with the tool on this page before starting ClearMind.

Theoretically, taking rhodiola with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In vitro and animal research shows that rhodiola extract can decrease blood glucose due to alpha-glucosidase activity.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking rhodiola with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
In vitro and animal research shows that rhodiola extract inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) and might lower blood pressure.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that rhodiola inhibits CYP2C9. This effect is highly variable and appears to be dependent on the rhodiola product studied. Also, a clinical study in healthy young males found that taking rhodiola extract 290 mg daily for 14 days reduces the metabolism of losartan, a CYP2C9 substrate, by 21% after 4 hours.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, rhodiola use might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro and animal research show that rhodiola has immunostimulatory effects.
Losartan (Cozaar)
Rhodiola might increase the levels and adverse effects of losartan.
A clinical study in healthy young males found that taking rhodiola extract 290 mg daily for 14 days reduces the metabolism of losartan, a CYP2C9 substrate, by 21% after 4 hours.
P-Glycoprotein Substrates
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase levels of P-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research shows that rhodiola inhibits P-glycoprotein. Theoretically, using rhodiola with P-glycoprotein substrates might increase drug levels and potentially increase the risk of adverse effects.
Antidepressant Drugs
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase the risk of adverse effects when taken with antidepressants.
A review of adverse event reports in Poland identified cases of tachyarrhythmias, myalgia, arthralgia, gum pain, restless leg syndrome, swallowing disorders, and changes in consciousness when rhodiola was taken in combination with paroxetine, escitalopram, fluoxetine, sertraline, trazodone, and/or duloxetine.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase the risk of adverse effects when taken with CNS depressants.
A review of adverse event reports in Poland identified cases of excessive sedation, myoclonus, hypotension, and hallucinations when rhodiola was taken with haloperidol, diazepam, or alprazolam.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that rhodiola inhibits CYP1A2. This effect is highly variable and appears to be dependent on the rhodiola product studied. However, a clinical study in healthy young males found that taking rhodiola extract 290 mg daily for 14 days does not inhibit the metabolism of caffeine, a CYP1A2 substrate.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that rhodiola inhibits CYP3A4. This effect is highly variable and appears to be dependent on the rhodiola product studied. However, a clinical study in healthy young males found that taking rhodiola extract 290 mg daily for 14 days does not inhibit the metabolism of midazolam, a CYP3A4 substrate.
Phosphatidylserine
Anticholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, phosphatidylserine might decrease the effectiveness anticholinergic drugs.
Phosphatidylserine is thought to increase acetylcholine levels, which could theoretically interfere with the activity of anticholinergic agents.
Cholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, phosphatidylserine might have additive effects with cholinergic drugs.
Phosphatidylserine is thought to increase acetylcholine levels, which could theoretically lead to additive cholinergic effects when used with cholinergic drugs.
Ribes nigrum
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, black currant seed oil might increase the risk of bleeding if used in combination with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a constituent of black currant seed oil, appears to have antiplatelet effects.
Phenothiazines
Theoretically, black currant seed oil might increase the risk of seizure in patients receiving phenothiazines.
Black currant seed oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). There is some concern that taking supplements containing GLA might cause seizures, or lower the seizure threshold, when taken with phenothiazines, although there is no evidence that black currant seed oil causes seizures. In one report, three patients with schizophrenia who had received phenothiazines developed EEG changes suggestive of temporal lobe epilepsy after starting treatment with GLA, although none experienced an actual seizure. In another report, two patients with schizophrenia who were stabilized on phenothiazines developed seizures when evening primrose 4 grams daily, which contains GLA, was added. One of these patients had a prior history of seizures.
