Devil's Claw is generally well tolerated for short-term use in healthy adults, but digestive upset is common. The most frequent side effects are allergic skin reactions, diarrhea, and indigestion; in trials, gastrointestinal complaints showed up in 9 to 18 percent of people taking it, especially at higher doses.

Rarely, headache, dizziness, or ringing in the ears have been reported. Very rarely, gastrointestinal bleeding has occurred.
