Finasteride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Devil's Claw interacts with.

Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw might inhibit CYP3A4, although this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for finasteride (Propecia or Proscar). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break it down. Devil's claw, at least in lab dish studies, may slow that enzyme a bit. In theory, that could let finasteride build up slightly in your system, which might nudge up its usual effects, things like reduced libido, trouble with erections, or breast tenderness.

That said, I want to be honest with you: this is only seen in test-tube research, not in real people, and finasteride is generally a forgiving medicine. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you want to add devil's claw, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on how you feel.

About Finasteride

What Is Finasteride Used For?

Brand names: Propecia, Proscar

Finasteride tablets (including the brand Proscar) are used in men with an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH) to improve urinary symptoms, lower the risk of acute urinary retention (a sudden inability to urinate), and reduce the need for prostate surgery. Finasteride tablets may also be used alongside the alpha-blocker doxazosin to slow the progression of BPH symptoms.

Propecia (and finasteride 1 mg coated tablets) is indicated for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in men only. Propecia is not approved for use in women, and its effectiveness for hair loss at the temples has not been established. Finasteride is not approved for the prevention of prostate cancer.
