Devil's claw is generally well tolerated for short-term use in healthy adults, but it can cause digestive upset. The most common side effects are allergic skin reactions, diarrhea, and indigestion — gastrointestinal complaints were reported in about 9% to 18% of people in trials.

Rarely, headache, dizziness, or gastrointestinal bleeding have been reported. Avoid this product during pregnancy because it may affect the uterus and safety hasn't been established.
