Orally, Irvingia gabonensis is generally well tolerated short-term, though long-term safety isn't well studied. The most common side effects reported in trials are flatulence, headache, insomnia, and nausea.

One case of acute liver inflammation (hepatitis) has been reported in a user taking 350 mg twice daily; the person developed jaundice and abdominal discomfort within four days. Because of limited long-term safety data, it's best avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Antidiabetes Drugs

Theoretically, taking Irvingia gabonensis with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia in some patients.
Human research shows that Irvingia gabonensis decreases blood sugar in diabetic patients being treated with antidiabetes agents. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.

Theoretically, taking Irvingia gabonensis with testosterone products drugs might cause additive effects in some patients.
