Here's the simple version: levorphanol is a strong opioid pain reliever, and one of its main effects is making you drowsy and slowing your breathing. 5-HTP, which your body turns into serotonin, has also been linked to sleepiness in studies. Put the two together and the worry is simply that the calming, sedating effects could stack on top of each other.

This concern is theoretical, based on how each one works rather than strong proof, so I don't want to scare you. Still, with a potent opioid, even a little extra drowsiness, foggy thinking, or slowed breathing is worth respecting. There's also a separate reason to be cautious: opioids and serotonin together can rarely raise serotonin too high. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
