Here's something worth knowing about pairing andrographis with Spinraza (nusinersen). The concern on file is about bleeding risk. Andrographis has shown antiplatelet activity in lab and animal studies, meaning it may make platelets a bit less sticky. Spinraza itself is given as a spinal injection (into the fluid around the spinal cord), and that procedure carries its own small bleeding risk, so anything that thins the blood is worth flagging.

Spinraza (nusinersen) is used to treat spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) — a genetic disease that causes progressive muscle weakness by reducing the body's ability to make a protein called SMN (survival motor neuron). Spinraza is approved for pediatric and adult patients with SMA.

Spinraza is given by intrathecal injection — directly into the fluid surrounding the spinal cord — so the medicine can reach the central nervous system where it's needed most.
